Swatch teases new Snoopy MoonSwatch | NEWS

When the original eleven MoonSwatch watches first launched, it is more than fair to say the crowd went wild. Queues all around the world, and a conversation topic for months and months on end inside and outside of the niche watch world… Then, Swatch began a series of MoonSwatch editions launched alongside certain moons, blood moon, whatever moon, who cares, with each of these editions effectively just introducing a subtly switched-up seconds hand. TL;DR of all your feedback and comments: yawn. With these editions, the crowd went mild. But, this week Swatch may have given us all a reason to be, for the first time in a long time, excited about the MoonSwatch again. It appears beloved Peanuts character Snoopy will make his mark on a MoonSwatch.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Time+Tide (@timetidewatches)The teaser is anything but subtle, with Snoopy, full moon in the background, opening the famed MoonSwatch case holding MoonSwatches within. Watch geeks will be well familiar with the fact that Snoopy and the Omega Speedmaster, which is the inspiration behind the MoonSwatch, have long had a relationship. Playing off of the Silver Snoopy Award, an honour awarded by NASA for outstanding achievements in human flight safety or mission success, Omega has released multiple Snoopy Speedmaster anniversary watches over the last two decades in honour of their winning of the award back in 1970. Snoopy, of course, has also had cameos on limited-edition watches from many other brands as well. The Snoopy x Speedmaster relationship, however, is irrefutably the strongest. Other brands leveraging the character on their watches can feel quite random and capitalizing, whereas a genuine throughline can be drawn between Omega and Snoopy. Considering the immense success of Snoopy Speedmaster limited and special editions, it is a safe bet this Snoopy x MoonSwatch to come will undoubtedly be a success that reinvigorates the MoonSwatch proposition and conversation.Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!ZachWatch meme of the week: Toy StoryView this post on InstagramA post shared by Brodinkee (@brodinkee)Snobs say they are toys, but the irrefutable fact is that Swatch Group’s internal collaborations stir up a frenzy with each release. That being said, with angry commenters shaming Swatch regarding the access to products in stores, or a lack of creativity in the expansion editions of the MoonSwatch, these watches sell like hotcakes. Subtle secondhand updates may seem like Swatch is simply capitalising on hype and ‘printing money’ for themselves as Brodinke put it. This teased Snoopy MoonSwatch is hopefully a turn around the corner. These are incredibly playful pieces, so I say go wild and play. People joke about the Simpsons x Swatch collab, and how it would have been cool to see a Springfield Speedy. I am all for it.Wrist shot of the week: Lost in the dial…View this post on InstagramA post shared by Arcanaut (@arcanaut_watches)I would write a better caption, but I am too focused on and lost in this dial…Time+Tide Shop pick of the week: Baltic x Time+Tide Hermetique Night ModeMeet the Baltic x Time+Tide Hermetique Night Mode: which would be among the darkest and most dapper field watches we've ever seen, and something we're really proud to share with the world as part of our 10th Anniversary celebrations. It features a 37mm stainless steel case with a matte black PVD coating, paired with a matte black dial. A polished steel ring punctuates the indices, adding a subtle hit of light that plays well with its double-domed sapphire crystal. The watch will be exclusively available to purchase in the Time+Tide Discovery Studio located at Level 1, 178 Collins St, Melbourne. However, recognising that a trip to Australia is not easy for most of our global community, we will be providing our a one-off opportunity to secure their very own Night Mode via a 24-hour global online sales window, which began today, January 26, at 7:00 am AET – so act fast! This will be the only time this piece will ever be made available outside of visiting our Time+Tide Studio.Pre-order online now from the Time+Tide Shop (24 hours only) or purchase at our Melbourne Discovery Studio.?Price: A$1,200 (Inc. GST), US$800 (Ex. VAT), GB600 (Ex. VAT), EU700 (Ex. VAT)Our favourite Time+Tide coverage of the weekAndrew explains how each of our three T+T10 boutique edition watches help sum up Time+TideLast week was definitely one for the memory books. Not only did we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Time+Tide with five big events back-to-back in our Melbourne Discovery Studio, but we released a trio of boutique edition watches from the three biggest microbrands in the world: the Baltic x Time+Tide Hermetique Night Mode, the Furlan Marri x Time+Tide Outback Elegy and the Studio Underd0g x Time+Tide Hand Delivered. They’re three very different watches, and they each epitomise a different aspect of what makes Time+Tide the beast that it is, according to our fierce founder Andrew McUtchen. Read on to learn more.Five of the most influential watch designers and their creationsThe most iconic designs in history have to come from passion, something you can’t really capture in a stuffy boardroom. These watches were designed by some of the truly brilliant minds and hands in the industry, the pioneers of watch design. Time+Tide Contributor Tom Austin digs into five of the most influential watch designers and their creations. This Platinumtech Panerai Luminor is a Panerista’s ultimate perpetual calendarWhile not largely associated with complex calibres, Panerai has explored high complications such as a tourbillon, or, looking at the watch we just went hands-on with, perpetual calendars. With their Italian eye for design, the Panerai Luminor Perpetual Calendar Platinumtech is not only stealth in its case expression but also its complication. Full review and video here.
