Oris presents five new Pointer Dates, with three colourful dials for its Sellita-powered models, and two pastels for the Calibre 403.At 40mm in diameter, the Pointer Date has fully completed its transition into its more minimalist dial design.The Sellita models retail for CHF 2,000, while the Calibre 403 go up in price significantly, starting at CHF 3,600 on the leather strap.The Big Crown is undoubtedly the most recognisable and legendary piece from the Oris catalogue, with its continuous production run lasting some nine decades. In 2025, it continues with five new references with both Sellita and Calibre 403 movements, bringing a new bracelet into the fray, though the highlights that will catch your eye first are the vibrant dials. And if you know Oris, you’ll know they’re no strangers to colour, proving that with the likes of the ProPilot Miss Piggy.Starting with the two Calibre 403-equipped pieces, Oris presents sage green and light pink (though they call it terracotta) dials. They come complete with the sans-serif Arabic numerals and the small seconds sub-dial, with the former glowing brightly thanks to their chunky disposition. At 40mm in diameter, 12.3mm thick, and 47.5mm lug-to-lug, the size is a crowd-pleaser for a slightly more dressed-down daily wearer, though surprisingly, the screw-down crown only offers 50 metres of water-resistance.Matching the size of the Calibre 403 models (though notably 0.3mm thinner) is the Sellita-powered Pointer Date trio, bringing even more colour. I’m very partial to the almost cyan blue, though the extra-bright yellow is a cool left-field option, too. The blurple is surprisingly toned-down given how colourful the pieces released alongside it are, with a blue pointer date hand to stand out.Other than the new colours, the biggest novelty is the new H-link steel bracelet. With an inverted endlink, it’ll suit smaller wrists better, and dresses up the overall look with mixed finishing of its links. For the Calibre 403 models, you can also opt for a deer leather strap by Cervo Volante.Even though the slight reduction in thickness of the Sellita models is welcome, the Calibre 403 (the automatic variant of the manually wound 473) offers a host of improvements that, albeit increasing the price, also do a lot to justify it. For starters, and purely visually, it’s a nice-looking movement that does a much better job of filling out the Pointer Date’s caseback.
