If you’re a Spanish football fan, the last few weeks have been nothing short of electric. Not only was Spain victorious in the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship – securing a record 4th Euros title – but Real Madrid, one of the world’s greatest football clubs, has just signed one of the world’s greatest players: Kylian Mbappe.The 25-year-old Frenchman, who also happens to be a Hublot ambassador (perhaps their most prominent, actually), leaves another titan club in Paris Saint-Germain for the Spanish side. For Mbappe, it’s a move that’s been almost a decade in the making, with the young star having always openly admired the team, despite turning down a move to Los Blancos 2 years ago. Measuring up at 42mm in diameter and powered by Hublot’s in-house Calibre HUB1280 flyback chronograph movement, the colour scheme of this watch seems awfully fitting: a dark blue bezel and strap matching PSG’s colours contrasting with lots of gold, which is Real Madrid’s colour.At 43,300, the Hublot is not what you’d call an affordable watch – but considering the contract he just signed with Real Madrid is worth 75 million over 5 years, which roughly equals 288,000 per week (and that doesn’t even include the 150 million believed to be his hefty signing fee), 43,300 is a drop in the ocean.
