Brand collaborations are becoming almost as popular now as vintage dive-watch reissues, so much so that the phenomenon now extends to straps as well as watches. Although it may seem a little ridiculous at first, anything which motivates watch companies to become more creative and branch out from the norms is a great thing in my book. The latest addition to this odd but growing trend is the IWC x Mark Ong limited-edition strap.Mark Ong (aka Mr Sabotage) has risen to streetwear fame over the last 20 years, amassing a huge fan base and a client list of celebrities from all walks of life. From hand-painted sneakers to distressed clothing, the Sabotage Surplus brand has a strong and likeable identity. It's convenient that the brand's real calling card is army green camouflage, as the green trend in watches is at an all-time high. Whether fitted to a watch with a green dial or not, IWC's militaristic heritage and design language works phenomenally well with these straps.The real standout feature of these straps is the embroidered patch on the buckle end, with black fabric and yellow text that makes it look like a genuine military issued item. The stripes of lighter green also give a lot more depth to the strap, almost making it look like a three-dimensional texture. The IWC x SBTG special edition strap is available in either 20mm or 21mm, meaning it can fit with almost every IWC Pilot's Watch if you make sure to measure the lug width first.
