The Big Bang Broderie collection has had a flying start, taking out the Ladies Watch Prize this year at the GPHG, where it swiftly saw off competitors with its innovative finishing and distinctive aesthetic.Key to the success of the range is the fusion of traditional embroidery combined with high-tech manufacturing and materials, which led to Hublot collaborating with Bischoff Textil, an industry leader in embroidery since its launch in 1927.Bischoff's influence is clearest on the dial, which features a skull rendered in carbon fibre and silver embroidery. This embroidered pattern continues through to the bezel, which is coated in clear resin for durability, and – even cooler – is also stitched in silk onto the rubber strap.Eleven diamonds set in rhodium mark the hours, matching the hands perfectly, and to top it off the 41mm steel case is decorated with a further 198.All up, the Big Bang Broderie sees Hublot juxtaposing traditionally male and female elements in a way that’s elegant yet dangerous, rebellious yet refined.
