Hamilton updates two of its most popular quartz watch collections with new bracelets and a fresh dial colour. The Khaki Field Quartz gets treated with a new khaki green dial option, as well as steel bracelets across the range. The Ventura Quartz’s smallest incarnation is now equipped with a stainless steel flex bracelet – a canny move in light of current trends. How do you go about making something already cool, even cooler? Green dials and strap options, of course! Hamilton has just upgraded the quartz lines on two of its most iconic collections, the Khaki Field and the out-of-this-world Ventura S, expanding their value propositions.A no-brainer colour and bracelet options for the Khaki Field QuartzFirst of all, let’s talk Khaki Field. It’s easy to say there’s a Khaki Field watch for everyone, as they have what seems like around a hundred different options in varying sizes, finishes, movements, colours, and styles. One newer addition to the line is the Khaki Field Quartz: launched last year, it’s now the most affordable version of Hamilton’s quintessential field watch. It comes in a 33mm or 38mm microblasted stainless steel case (7.5mm and 8.3mm thick respectively) making it a comfortable companion for any budding adventurer. A sapphire crystal and screw-down case back add to its charms. This update to the range sees 12 additional references join the Khaki Field Quartz family across the two case sizes, most of which represent the option of a microblasted stainless steel 3-link bracelet with folding clasp. This bracelet is similar to those found on other Khaki Field variants, and is similarly robust – a bracelet option expands the Khaki Field Quartz’s appeal, and only attracts a small premium over the base NATO strap option. Another thing which expands its appeal is a new dial colour: khaki green. This shade keeps things super simple, with clear Arabic numerals, minimal dial text, and a clean minute track, all finished in a yellowed, off-white colour. The hands are finished with Super-LumiNova, ensuring the watch remains legible well into the night.Hamilton Khaki Field Quartz pricing and availabilityThe new khaki green dial option and bracelets for the Hamilton Khaki Field Quartz will be available from the Time+Tide Shop in March 2025. Some others among us would also recognise a similar watch on the wrist of a freshly inducted Agent J from the 1997 sci-fi flick Men in Black. The Ventura is an icon, not just because of who wore it, but because it’s still one of the wildest-looking watches you can buy today, despite being an almost 70-year-old design. To go back to Elvis for a second, the Ventura has been talked about for a long time as being a watch that he owned and loved, and so it inspired Hamilton to release this upgrade, as he too owned an original Ventura Flex, and it offers a bold and comfortable alternative to the original leather strap. The new flex bracelet on the Ventura Quartz S finishes off what was already an ambitious look, and polishes it off by fully embodying that 1960s appeal, with the thin links making the bracelet flowy and stylish. However, where this deviates from the standard Ventura is in its size: while collectors in the 50s and 60s preferred smaller watches, this 24 x 36.5 mm model – which has previously not had a flex bracelet option – is properly petite.Flex bracelets are surprisingly uncommon these days, but they were everywhere in the 60s, with aftermarket makers like Spiedel selling them by the truckload. It’s a look that’s very on-trend right now, with our current obsession with bracelets and bangles in watchmaking – as well as a swing towards smaller case diameters – so this Ventura is bang on the zeitgeist. It’s impressive how Hamilton has made this watch look bang up to date and more relevant than ever. Finished in stainless steel, with a simple back dial featuring hour markers that look like neutrons exploding out across it, it’s a futuristic looking watch, but it somehow manages to look refined. I guess that’s the power of timeless design. Maybe The King was on to something all along…Hamilton Ventura Quartz S pricing and availabilityThe Hamilton Ventura S Quartz will be available from the Time+Tide Shop in March 2025.
