It's been a lonely week here in the Time+Tide office as certain members of the team have been busy partying at NASA with Omega. Not that I'm jealous What happened?Torneau's NYC Rolex store was robbed this week a terrible event, but luckily no one was hurt. Police report that two of the criminals were wearing fedoras and one a bow tie. Our thoughts are either it was Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams, or some late to the party hipsters finally getting on board the vintage Rolex trend. But seriously we're glad no one was hurt.Possible suspects in the robb- oh wait, that’s Mumford and Sons. Still guilty, but of different crimes. What actually mattered? That auction we told you about last week?It went off. Records were broken. The Patek Philippe reference 130 in steel from 1927 went for a cool 4,000,000 CHF (plus commission). That's the most expensive steel watch ever sold.?This??Rolex Daytona 6263 Albino' once owned by Eric Clapton went for 1,325,000 CHF. That's the most expensive Rolex ever sold. Boom. The week in numbers: 15: The number of space related posts on our Instagram this week.9: The number of watches from Australian brands currently in our office.539: The number of you who like the new Bell & Ross Desert Type. Sadly there's only 250 being made so you can't all have one.29,600,000: The total figure?realised (in CHF) by all lots in the Phillips?inaugural?watch auction.1: The loneliest number. Also the number of people alone in the office. With no friends.
