Revived for its 25th anniversary, the Chopard L.U.C Quattro boasts its 9-day power reserve in an 18k rose gold case. The latest Quattro movement is the L.U.C 98.09-L, using two double-stacked mainspring barrels to deliver 216 hours of power with constant force.Despite its massive power reserve, the case of the watch is quite petite at 39mm in diameter and 10.4mm thick.Power reserve has been becoming more of a focus for watch fanatics in recent years. Whether it's growing collections requiring larger gaps between rotations, or if it's just a simple-to-understand specification to focus on, there's something about a huge power reserve that feels reassuring and impressive. Well, the Chopard L.U.C Quattro is back for its 25th anniversary to remind us who's boss, as part of the brand’s Watches and Wonders 2025 releases. With a 9-day power reserve, the Quattro can thank an ingenious solution within a relatively small movement. It's a Chopard L.U.C, so of course the case and dial are going to be beautiful, but let's get right to the meat and potatoes. The calibre L.U.C 98.09-L achieves its 9-day or 216-hour power reserve thanks to two double-stacked mainspring barrels that total 188.5cm of mainspring length. For comparison, the average mainspring is about 20-30cm in length. Because the power reserve is spread across four barrels at once, the power delivery is fairly stable and constant, meaning that the watch's rate of accuracy shouldn't fluctuate as much when the watch is either fully wound or running low. Of course, being an L.U.C, the movement is COSC-certified for a daily accuracy within -4/+6 seconds per day, and the level of finishing is exquisite enough to bear the Poin?on de Geneve hallmark. Keeping the dial space a little clearer, the power reserve indicator can also be seen through the sapphire caseback.Packaging up all of that power isn't easy, but the L.U.C Quattro remains humbly sized. The case, made of ethical 18k rose gold, is 39mm in diameter with a moderate thickness of 10.4mm, which should be more than comfortable on most wrists. The case design is quite traditional, with elegant, sloping lugs, a softly curved bezel, and a conical crown that’s easy to grasp for winding that 9-day power reserve. The water resistance is only 30 metres, but this isn't exactly the kind of watch that’s meant for the beach. The L.U.C collection has a way of masterfully playing with period, balancing traditional and contemporary elements. Even though this is a watch with bright colours, a multi-faceted hand set, and a multi-functional subdial, it never loses an ounce of simplicity and elegance. The heavily saturated blue dial has a grained texture, contrasting against the smooth minute track around the dial's perimeter. Those hands are so powerful, with sharp edges commanding attention as they travel the dial. Then there's the small seconds subdial which shares a space with a pointer-date complication, adding a bit of utility without sacrificing sophistication.Chopard L.U.C Quattro 25th Anniversary Edition price and availabilityThe Chopard L.U.C Quattro 25th Anniversary Edition is now available exclusively at Chopard boutiques.
